Pace High School's Drama Dept. presents 'Sound of Music' on March 7-9 at the Spartan Center
Monsignor Edward Pace High School’s (PACE) drama program will present their spring production of “The Sound of Music” under the guidance of Marianne Martinez, lead teacher for PACE’s Academy of Visual and Performing Arts Theatre Program.
The beloved musical tells the story of Maria Rainer, a kind and free-spirited candidate at the Nonnberg Abbey in Salzburg, Austria. She leaves the monastery and is dispatched to serve as a governess for the Von Trapp family, caring for the seven children of a widowed naval Captain. The inspirational Rodgers and Hammerstein masterpiece features some of the most captivating songs in musical history and the motion picture version starring Julie Andrews, remains the most popular movie musical of all time.
The students have been dedicating long hours to rehearsing for what will certainly be one of PACE’s most memorable productions. The cast is looking forward to performing some well known crowd favorites, as well as an intricate five part acapella harmony in Latin.
Joining the Spartan cast are several students from Immaculate Conception Catholic School and Hialeah Gardens Elementary, who will be playing the youngest of the Von Trapp children.
“The Sound of Music” will run March 7 to 9 at PACE’s Spartan Center located at 15600 N.W. 32 Avenue. Presale general admission tickets are on sale for $12 with VIP tickets for $20 (limited quantities available). They will be sold by all members of the Drama Club as well as the school’s main office. Tickets may be purchased at the door for $15. For more information, contact the school at (305) 623-7223.
