With the school year nearly over, it’s time to start planning for summer activities for the kids,  and the Town of Miami Lakes, in partnership with the YMCA and other community organizations, will be offering several summer camp programs.

YMCA Summer Camps will be available 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. from June 11 through August 17 at two Miami Lakes locations. Campers will participate in field trips, physical activities, theme-based activities, friendship, songs and chants, arts and crafts, enjoy nutritional lunches, and be coached by YMCA mentors.

Children, ages 5 to 15 years old, can participate in the YMCA Summer Camp at Royal Oaks Park, 16500 N.W. 87 Avenue, and will have a choice of a Traditional Camp ($124 per week), a Sports Camp or Dance Camp ($160 per week), or Leaders in Training (for teens only at $90 per week). There is a one time $50 registration fee.

Teens, ages 13 to 15 years old, can choose the YMCA Summer Camp at Miami Lakes Youth Center (The Spot), 6075 Miami Lakes Drive East. Cost is $90 per week plus a one time $50 registration fee.

A Code Explorers Summer Camp, hosted by the award-winning 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to teaching, motivating and expanding participation in computer science, technology and engineering using mobile technology and learning, will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for two weeks from June 11 through June 22, at Miami Lakes Optimist Park Clubhouse, 6411 N.W. 162 Street.
