Town of Miami Lakes has received a Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Small Community Energy Efficient Lighting Grant for $225,000 to assist in funding the Royal Oaks Park Energy Efficient Sports Fields Lighting Project.

As part of the Town’s Strategic Plan Objective to achieve universal environmental sustainability, the Town submitted the proposal along with 23 other hopeful communities throughout Florida to share in the total funding available of $1 million making the effort extremely competitive. Miami Lakes received full funding for its Royal Oaks Park grant submission.

Royal Oaks Park is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., 365 days a year. The 22-acre park is heavily used year-round and provides athletic fields for soccer and football, as well as a half basketball court, pavilions, fitness stations, playground, outdoor domino tables, picnic areas, and an indoor community center for special events, education programs and private parties.
